Gondwanaland -- Leipzig Zoo
I got to take a little getaway trip to the Amazon this past weekend. Nothing fancy, just a quick trip to South America and back within a couple days. Ha! I wish! The zoo here in Leipzig has a huge, heated, indoor jungle exhibit complete with a water cruise, monkeys and several restaurants. The light it natural and comes in through a huge white dome that you can see in some of the pictures. Birds roam free and are rather friendly as you can tell by the last picture. I went with my host mom and both kids. We ran into one of Sylvie's friends and her daughter and decided to have ice cream and let the kids play. It was a nice little getaway from the totally crummy weather outside. Freezing and grey all day. Heres to hoping that the warmer weather gets here soon! XO

Rolling into 2015 (Happy New Year!)
Holy Cow it's 2015! I can't believe it, but it's totally for real guys. It's happened. 2008 was in fact seven whole years ago (!!!). Am I the only one that thinks that's crazy? Silly old me forgot to take my camera with me when I went out to party hardy last night so the pictures aren't stellar, but I'll take them! I had loads of fun hanging out with a handful of girlfriends from church. We made pizzas, drank fruity bubbly, played SingStar (a karaoke game), watched a traditional German short film called 'Dinner For One' (Youtube link here--watch it!) inhaled air that was probably more carbon dioxide than oxygen and almost had our ear drums blasted from our heads. Sounds fun, right? ;) New Years here is a big deal and a good excuse to go out with friends and leave all inhibitions behind (or on the ground where you fell over from being a little too tipsy..haha!).
I am happy to be rolling into the new year of 2015 and can't wait to see what these next twelve months have in store for me! I only have six months left here before it's time to head back home! Lots of exciting things are in store...I can feel it!
I hope you all have some fun things planned for this new year and you enjoy the rest of your holiday. XOX
