Wetteren

Hello there! Long time, no write, right? Haha. There is so much to see in this beautiful country that the blog posts are probably going to be more frequent as we adventure around over this two week holiday...not sorry :)

Today we awoke to the rat-a-tat-tat of rain thumping onto the roof and pavement. It drizzled for most of the day so we had a later start. We got groceries for the week and magically were able to fit everything into the tiny baby fridge. We decided to make the best of things and do some sight seeing in spite of the later afternoon hour.

Wetteren is about 10 minutes outside of Ghent and is the cutest little village! The church and clock tower that is attached are gorgeous! I had about an hour to myself as everyone went off to do other things so I pulled out my handy dandy camera and set off down a random road, snapping pictures at anything that held still long enough. Here is some of what I got...

half of our total grocery haul...that bag of Haribo candy is almost gone already XD
The lovely church of Wetteren which was closed when we got to town is beautiful. It's full name is the Sint Gertrudeskerk which I'm  educatedly guessing means Saint Gertrude's Church.

saw two other banners like this in town...too good to stay in American, Ben and Jerry? ;)
rounded a very plain corner and BAM!
the next picture is what I saw-holy moly!

There were a bunch of cute little shops that you could buy discounted goods in and since I hadn't bought anything since getting here, I decided to splurge a whole 4 euros and get myself a new and very cute wallet...

cute, right?

I had a great time today and can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store!

  1. This town looks so lovely! Thanks for sharing all the beauty you are seeing with the rest of us. How is it there are so few people in all your pictures? Do you just wait till everyone is out of the way to take the pic? Just wondering. I hope your birthday tomorrow is wonderful! Love you!
