A Dream Come True

I grew up with Walt Disney's idealistic princess-meets-prince-they-fall-in-love-and-live- happily-ever-after scenario and I totally loved it. What Disney story isn't complete without a gorgeous monstrosity of a house to call their own, though? Castles, boys and girls. Europe is chalked full of them and today I had the opportunity to cross one off my list of 'to-sees'. It was closed today, but we are returning on Thursday to get the grand tour.

To say that I was excited would be an understatement. I was fan-girling hard core on the inside, guys. It's a castle! From the actual medieval times! With knights and kings and princes and princesses and moats and horses! And while it has undergone several face-lifts over the years to retain its shape, the general essence and structure of the building is still the same and it was awesome.

 this would be the drawbridge that closes the gap between where we were standing, the front doors and not falling into the MOAT...

 I could almost see Mr. Darcy galloping up the road on his shiny black horse, sweeping me off my feet and riding away into the sunset...;)

Here is a little peak at another "castle" that we tried to go see. Unfortunately it was closed (surprise, surprise). It was gorgeous from what we got to see of it anyway :)
